Who Am I?
I'm a potter, an artist, a child of God, a wife, a mother, a daughter, a friend, a wilderness canoe tripper, a dog-lover, a reader and writer.
My experience with clay has been shaped by my experience of God. In 2000 when I began to work with clay again (having taken a course back in highschool) it coincided with a time of faith deepening and growth. God was calling me into a deeper place, a deeper way of understanding who He is and who I am. The Bible became a 'clay handbook'as the Lord taught me about the Potter and the clay. He poured into me the water of healing and love. Time with clay became quiet time with God. I began speaking about God, faith and the joy of belonging to Him from my pottery wheel. The doors have not stopped opening for me to go and teach from my wheel. There's something magical about watching a pot being formed on the wheel.

I love giving people the experience of watching this wonder. To see ourselves as a lump of clay, being molded and fashioned in the hands of God is reassuring and comforting. I love working with clay. I take great joy in forming vessels from formless lumps of clay. The endless, ongoing journey of learning with clay is both challenging and delightful. Great care goes into the creation of each piece of pottery and with care the pottery pieces will give pleasure and use for many, many years.
My supportive family is Jim, childhood sweetheart, and husband since '81, three great children: Josh, Jeremy and Coriander, and of course, a dog named Boggle.
We live in a small but significant place called Limehouse, a bit of land that has a rich heritage in baking and burning rock in large outdoor kilns to produce lime. (See www.limestonekilns.ca ). Come and visit Limehouse, walk the Bruce Trail and see the kilns. |
